Your cooperative takes great pride in helping develop rural leaders in our region. We offer scholarships to recognize academic and community achievements made by young people in the communities we serve.
Calhoun County Electric Cooperative currently has two separate scholarship opportunities available. The first is available through our wholesale power supplier, Basin Electric Power Cooperative. This is a $1,000 scholarship, awarded to one (1) of Calhoun County Electric Cooperative's applicants each year. Any student who is a dependent of a Calhoun County Electric Cooperative member is eligible to apply for the scholarship. Applications must be received by our office (1015 Tonawanda St., PO Box 312 Rockwell City, IA 50579) by 4:30 pm on or before Friday, February 5, 2021.
The second available scholarship is sponsored by Calhoun County Electric Cooperative itself. For 2021, three $1,000 scholarships and three $500 scholarships will be awarded to six (6) successful applicants, for a total of $4,500 available. Any student who is a dependent of a Calhoun County Electric Cooperative member is eligible to apply for the scholarship. Please check back late January for applications and complete information!
These scholarships are considered an investment in the economic future of rural areas. Recipients are selected on the basis of academic record, potential to succeed, leadership and participation in school and community activities, honors, work experience, and a statement of education and career goals. The scholarships must be used for educational costs, and the student must attend college in the fall of the school year for which the scholarship is awarded.
